John is a retired police officer after 32 years of service.  During his time as a police officer he received a Letter of Commendation from his department,  West Allegheny Friend of Education Award, and Outstanding Citizen Award from the community.  John was also President of the West Allegheny Foundation for 12 years.

After retirement, John spent 3 years in corporate security, overseeing the operation of 200 security officers for a major financial institution.
